This Central American and Regional Latin American hub has become one of the largest and most advanced workplaces in recent years. Torre Universal, in San José Costa Rica is the location for this Global Software Company to fit-out a new state of the art office around fostering wellness and comfort for more than 1,500 associates across 193,000sf of office space. The interior concept drew inspiration from Costa Rican 20th century culture, colors and local materials. Torre Universal’s privileged location allows for 360° spectacular inspirational panoramic views of the Central Valley’s Mountain Range.
Scope of Work
With an emphasis on wellness and visual comfort, the lighting design takes inspiration from the local culture. Using extensive daylight harvesting, the lighting design is adaptable to the large quantity of available natural light entering the building by dimming continuously according to the changing light levels throughout the day. The goal is to create spaces for work, collaboration, and relaxation that are connected and responsive to nature while also accenting the interior design features and materials. This project also incorporated cutting edge technology including a sophisticated BMS systems and smart office integrations.
The scope of work included the development of the lighting concept design, the creation of construction documents, photometric and power density calculations, contract administration and commissioning for the entire office project.
