Project Description:

The former Dewitt Clinton hotel in downtown Albany, NY, is renovated into a 204-room, $60 million Renaissance by Marriott, a worldwide luxury brand. The renovations bring new life to an empty, 15-story building at State and Eagle streets near the Capitol. The Renaissance Albany will be the first and only lifestyle luxury Marriott brand located in downtown Albany. As part of the historic renovation, distinctive features are preserved, such as a high-ceilinged lobby whose upper walls are decorated with murals depicting events in New York state history.

Scope of Work

This lighting design was formulated around the following guiding principal. "Embracing the old and the new to honor the building’s history while offering state of the art patron amenities." Our objective in creating a high benefit design revolves around translating the core renaissance Albany values into a lighting design that supports the totality of the environment to delight, engage and surprise the patron. Lighting needs to be staged with artistry and care to create a seamless interaction of light with architecture.
